Welcome to the Shearwater Aviation Museum‘s Sea King web page. This page is intended as a place to collect and make available primary reference material concerning the 55 year service life of the Canadian CHSS-2 / CH-124 Sea King (1955-2018).
The site is currently in the early stages, and there is much content that has a framework but has not been completed. It current consists of the following areas:
CH-124 Sea King Tactical Fit which is the tactical and supporting systems of the different versions of the CH-124 over it’s service life.
Sea King By The Numbers which is an attempt to gather some specific information on each tail number, such as deployments, modifications, etc, and includes a timeline of both the airframes and Sea King capable ships of the Canadian Navy.
A Publications page, where it is eventually envisioned to have web versions of all the major Sea King pubs. Currently, part of the Aircraft Operating Instructions is done.
A Blog of how this website is being developed, including how it reached it’s crurent state.
It should be noted the original purpose of this site was to support the informative pop-ups of the Sea King Interactive Display, but it was quickly realized that it could host content that had been percolating at the museum for some time.
As a primary reference, the majority of the content will be already published materials, or collation of data from existing sources, including archiving social media. All material must have a reference provided. However, it is intended that this site will also be able to host the publication of original, reviewed, work.
