    • Tape Recorder Control Panel

    The control panel (Figure 1-12-16), mounted at the top right hand corner of the Sonar Operator station (Figure 1-10-9), provides complete operation control of the recorder. Mounted on the front panel are three switches and three lamps. The control and indicator functions are as follows:

    a. PWR (Power) Switch. An ON/OFF switch which applies DC power to the recorder.

    b. RCD (Record) Switch. Operates only when the SHTL switch is OFF. With the RCD switch in the STBY position the recorder is  stopped. With the RCD switch set to SONAR the system records sonar information and voice annotation. The MAD position is not used in this installation.

    c. SHTL (Shuttle) Switch. Used to advance or rewind tape.

    d. EOT (End Of Tape) Lamp. Illuminates when an end-of-tape condition is sensed in the recorder.

    e. STBY (Standby) Lamp. Illuminates when the PWR switch is ON, the RCD switch on STBY and the SHTL switch OFF.

    f. RCD (Record) Lamp. Illuminates when the RCD switch is set to SONAR.
