General

The sonobuoy receiving system consists of four individual receivers that receive, amplify and demodulate VHF/FM signals from any of 31 preset channels. Audio output is supplied to the ICS system and to the modulator/demodulator. The sonobuoy receiving system includes:

a. Two receiving antennas.

b. Four radio receivers R1170/ARR-52A.

c. One power supply PP2479/ARR-52A.

d. Two frequency selector control panels C4506/ARR-52A.

e. Four RF indicating eyebrow meters. SB1085/ARR-52A.

f. Sonobuoy receiver control panel.

g. Modular/Demodulator MD5040/U.

The equipment uses 115 VAC single phase and 28 VDC power from the primary bus, and is protected by one 5 ampere circuit-breaker marked “SONO” on the AC circuit-breaker panel and one 5 ampere circuit-breaker marked “SONO” on the DC portion of the radio circuit-breaker panel. In addition the modulator/demodulator is protected by a 0.75 ampere fuse on the unit’s front panel.
