SONAR GUILLOTINE Switch

A guarded SONAR GUILLOTINE switch (Figure 1-12-11) located to the left of the fuel management panel, allows the pilot to shear the sonar cable if the sonar transducer snags on an object and cannot be freed. When the guard is raised and the switch thrown, an electrically detonated charge in the guillotine, located on the reeling machine, will fire and cut the sonar cable. The switch is protected by a circuit-breaker, marked “SONAR”, located on the radio circuit-breaker panel.
