A VOR Test Facility (VOT) permits ground checking of VOR equipment without reference to a “check radial”. To carry out the VOT check proceed as follows:
a. Ensure AIC 14 intercom system ON.
b. Ensure GHARS ON and serviceable.
c. Select (push) pilot, co-pilot and TACCO NAV SELECT switch to VOR/LOC and ensure VOR/LOC segment lights illuminate in all positions.
d. Select the course control switch/light to the PCONT position;
(1) Ensure the PCONT segment illuminates.
(2) Ensure the green course control light on the pilots ID-351 illuminates.
e. On the VOR/ILS control unit select and identify the VOT facility.
f. Select a course of 180 degrees on the pilot’s CDI using the course SET knob.
(1) Observe all three BDHI No.2 needles indicate 180 +4 degrees.
(2) Observe pilot’s and co-pilot’s CDI indicates;
(a) Vertical needle centred +4 degrees.
(b) Vertical needle OFF flag is not in view.
(c) The TO/FROM indication is TO.
g. Turn the pilot’s CDI SET knob to indicate a course of 190 degrees and observe the vertical needle moves LEFT over the second dot +4 degrees on both indicators.
h. Turn the pilot’s CDI SET knob to indicate a course of 170 degrees and observe the vertical needle moves RIGHT over the second dot +4 degrees on both indicators.
i. Turn the pilot’s CDI SET knob to indicate a course of 000 degrees and both pilot’s indicators read as follows;
(1) Vertical needle centred +4 degrees.
(2) The TO/FROM indication is FROM.
(3) Three BDHI No.2 needles point 180 degrees (relative).
j. Select CPCONT on the Course Control switch/light. Ensure the CPCONT segment illuminates and the green course control light on the pilot’s CDI should extinguish.
k. Repeat paragraphs 81. g., h., and i., substituting pilot’s course control selector knob with the co-pilot’s.
