The display indicator is the focal point of the TACNAV operation, visually integrating system navigation functions, operator initiated mission parameters and related inputs from associated equipment. The display indicator is located at the TACCO’s position. The controls are shown in Figure 1-14-7 and described in Figure 1-14-8. The panel lighting is controlled by the TACCO’s switching and dimming panel.
The TACNAV provides a true north oriented display of the current tactical situation within a 512 × 512 Nautical Mile (NM) area. Any portion of the area can be shown on the display, depending on the selection of the centre and scale, but not all of the 512 NM square can be shown at one time. Whenever the display includes the boundary of the square, it will be shown as a double bright line. The grid centre is the centre of the 512 NM square, and the display centre is the centre of the CRT (Figure 1-14-9).
