The VHF radio receiver is of modular construction and operates in the frequency range of 162.25 to 173.50 MHz providing 31 preset frequency selections in 375 KHz increments. Signals from sonobuoys are detected by the UHF/DF antenna and fed to the VHF receiver for processing. The processed signals are then fed to the direction finding system for further processing before being displayed on the BDHI. For OTPI signals to be displayed on the BDHI, it is necessary to select ARA/TAC on the BDHI selection panel and OTPI on the ARA selector panel.
