The search radar set is used in antisubmarine warfare, search and rescue, navigation and weather avoidance. It has a display range of up to 100 nautical miles and 360 coverage around the aircraft.
There are blind arcs in the radar coverage towards the front and back, due to where the radar antenna is mounted above the rear fuselage (8 in the attached drawing).

The radar transmits on a fixed frequency of 9.375Ghz, and has a pulse repetition frequency of 400Hz, which was derived from the aircraft generators and thus could vary with the main rotor RPM.
The radar is stabilized by use of the aircraft GHARS in through ±20 degrees of pitch and roll.
