Sonar Range Data Converter

The AQS-502 is a lightweight echo-ranging dipping sonar capable of detecting and classifying moving and stationary underwater objects. The sonar set will provide information concerning range, bearing and speed, at display ranges of up to 20,000 yards.

The Range Data Converter converts the magnetic reference provided from the Sonar Transducer to a true reference. This is used to properly orientate the screen to true north regardless of transducer rotation in the water.

It also converts the digital format of range and bearing provided by the sonar to an analog format used by the ASN-501 (the ASN-123C uses the digital format directly).
