The gyroscopic heading and attitudereference system provides an accurate, reliable, inertially stabilized heading and vertical reference for true and grid navigation and for helicopter yaw stabilization.
The GHARS is capable of furnishing continuous angular pitch, roll and azimuth information and of operating over the entire surface of the earth.
The main sensors of the GHARS are a vertical gyro to measure pitch and roll, a directional gyro to measure true heading, and a flux valve to meusure magnetic heading. The Doppler System provides velocity inputs to allow the GHARS to correct for median convergency, transport wander, and earth’s rate.
