Display Indicator

Part of: ASN-123C Tactical Navigation System

The AN/ASN-123C TACNAV was a sophisticated navigation system when first developed. It combines data from multiple sensors to help the crew determine the aircraft’s exact position and determine the location and tracking of other ships and submarines.

Overview
The Display Indicator serves as the visualization hub for the TACNAV (Tactical Navigation) system. It combines system navigation, operator mission inputs, and data from connected equipment into an integrated display.

Location
The Display Indicator is positioned at the TACCO’s (Tactical Coordinator’s) station.

Display Function
The TACNAV provides a true north-oriented map of the tactical environment, covering an area of 512 × 512 Nautical Miles (NM). Operators can select the centre point and adjust the display scale to focus on any part of this area.
